Growing Healthier Kids

That's the foundation of Grady’s Classroom—our strategy includes strong partners and partnerships, with organizations that serve children, particularly those in greatest needs and at greatest risk, and facilitates content and implementation in a way that is feasible and effective.

Evidence-based Results
We've observed statistically significant improvements in children's ability to identify vegetables and their willingness to try them after engaging with our content–crucial first steps towards healthier eating habits!

Before and after the class receives each curriculum module, each child is presented with 4 vegetables ( ie. celery, collard greens, green onions, and romaine lettuce) and asked the following questions:

1. Can you identify these vegetables?
2. Would you be willing to try the vegetables?

After activating just the first of ten available curricular modules, we saw the average ID of the vegetables increase by:

37.5% for celery, 12.5% for onions, 12.5% for romaine, 3.1% for collard greens.

We saw increases to “willingness to try” by:

75% for romaine, 50% for celery, 40% for collards, 18.8% for onions

A random sample of other module participants showed:

58.3% increase in collard greens id, 41.7% increase in willingness to try collard greens, 29.9% increase in willingness to try a green bean, 28% increase in green bean identification

Since 2023, Grady’s Classroom’s evidence-based curriculum has reached more than 3,500 K-6 students at schools and after-school programs. With the help of the Grady’s Garden app, we intend to help kids plant seeds in every state!
